Kidrobot presents the Breaking Free 8-Inch Resin Dunny by WHATSHISNAME. Pressure to be what your family wants you to be. What society says you need to be. What advertising says you’ll be happy to be. But you can break free. This collaboration between Kidrobot and London-based artist Whatshisname uses the canvas of the Dunny to explore the struggle between the parts of our identity imposed by the outside world and our desire to be our authentic selves. This empowering 8-inch resin figure shows a person pressing back against the strictures of the world and in the process of emerging as themselves.

Limited Edition.

ABOUT WHATSHISNAME

With artworks and sculptures that intrigue and surprise, Whatshisname is one of the most ironic names out there for an artist. For over fifteen years, Sebastian Burdon has been taking the creative industry by storm as a contemporary artist specializing in sculptures, prints, and public art projects.

The Polish-born artist started creating his first digital art at the early age of 7 while using the iconic Atari 130 XE, building image pixel by pixel using the text editor, an art form that is currently known as pixel art. After moving to London, UK in 2006, Sebastian worked with a variety of British artists as an assistant, helping fulfill their creative visions, while being mentored and refining his craft before embarking on a solo career as a professional artist. Outside the UK, Burdon’s work has gained acclaim, having been featured in major cities like London, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His often playful and provocative but surprising perspective and pop-inspired style earn him positive attention and praise.

Ava ★★★★★

Didn't expect the resin to feel this solid in hand, way heavier than my vinyl pieces. The peeling figure detail is what sold me, and at 8 inches it anchors my shelf without dominating it.

Hannah J. ★★★★★

The metallic silver finish on this 8-inch resin piece catches light way better than I expected, and it's heavier in hand than it looks. That trapped-figure pose reads as playful rather than preachy, which is exactly why it's now front and center on my shelf.

Charlotte M. ★★★★★

I love the message behind this piece—it really captures that feeling of breaking away from expectations. The 8-inch resin size has a nice weight to it, and the metallic silver finish is flawless.
